Day 1
visit of a coffee plantation
A 2h 30 drive from Quito takes you to the village of Atahualpa.
The landscape changes from dry vegetation to agricultural land and finally you into a primary cloud forest. Along the way, you will visit a small coffee farm and taste freshly brewed organic coffee. Hereafter you continue traveling till the small Sayaro Ecuador Glamping project.
After the check in, the owners welcome you with a delicious lunch.
During your stay you will taste the best locally produced organic food. In the afternoon, you visit the eco-farm and will be introduced to the principles of permaculture. They farm organically and live in harmony with nature. Besides a vegetable and herbal garden, there are chickens, cows, alpacas and a small trout farm.
Enjoy the evening on the terrace of your tent, with a good glass of wine and a stove will be lit when it gets colder.

Day 2
forest and return to Quito
Wake up with the sound of many birds and enjoy a good breakfast with homemade products.
Afterwards, you visit the Piganta forest by foot. Your English-speaking guide shows you the endemic flora and fauna of this eco system. Piganta is home to the spectacled bear, the only bear in South America. This bear is an omnivore and weighs between 80 to 125 kilograms. Although he is difficult to spot, it is a good sign that the ecosystem is largely intact and that agriculture is being practiced on a reasonable level.
With some luck you can spot the endangered Andean eagle which nests in this forest. Other bird species can be observed such as tanagers, falcons and the black-chested buzzard eagle.
After lunch the driver will bring you back to Quito or to your next destination.
